A distinguished international businessman, political figure and philanthropist, Dr. Liou is dedicated to fostering greater understanding globally and is a strong believer in the importance of education as a basis for dialogue and cooperation between nations.

Dr. Liou and the Liu Foundation generously contributed the major portion of support for establishing UBC’s Liu Institute.
 
The Liu Institute for Global Issues was established in September 2000.
