The term "community-based research" is frequently used in an increasing number of disciplines and refers to many different kinds of research activities. As a result, the term "community-based research" has been used to capture a wide-range of ontological, epistemological and methodological approaches to research. Our panelists have all been students, practitioners and instructors of community-based research in different kinds of community settings. They have wrestled with and have articulated their own personal and disciplinary approaches to community-based research. From their diverse disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives, the panelists will discuss the history and purposes of community-based research and the theoretical underpinnings for current practice. Examples from current health feminist and First Nations research will be presented. There will certainly be time for interaction and discussion with the panelists. Download the event poster here.
Please RSVP here. Hosted by the Interdisciplinary Studies Graduate Program and the Liu Institute for Global Issues.
